Running the Anchorage Marathon in Memory of my Mother!
I did it!!!!
It's done, mission accomplished! :-) And now, a week afterwards, I feel great!!! It was a nice sunny day in Anchorage, and still a good size crowd (see facts at the bottom of this page). I started out with Jen and Marilyn and we were trying to keep a 12 minutes/mile pace. But we slowed down once we got on the tank trail and on mile 13 we got seperated from Marilyn. Jen and I kept 'trucking' - one step after the other. Yes, after a while it did get hard, everything started to hurt and felt like it would never end... but we finished (6:06:43). Parts of the course, I was wondering "... and why am I doing this????" - but having done it feels wonderful. Knowing the money that was raised and remembering Mom while doing it, was worth all the pain. And the greatest news: The Georgia chapter for Team in Training raised about $260,000 and nationwide Team in Training raised $4.7 million!! Maybe there will be other events to follow...? ;-) Thanks for everyone's support!!! Andrea PS Please don't forget to sign my guest book...
